4 Things To Keep In Mind When Choosing A Floor Plan
It’s a new month and a new blog post! Welcome back to our blog, today’s post is about floor plans. In both May and June, we wrote about open and closed floor plans. We talked about the differences between them and why people choose one over the other. Today’s post is similar but a bit different. Instead of talking about a specific floor plan, we want to talk about four things that you should always keep in mind when choosing the floor plan for your future home.
While choosing a stylish floor plan is very important to achieve the look that you want, you should also consider practical factors.
- Create Good Traffic Flow: If you are living with others, you have to consider a plan that does not place the kitchen or bathroom too close to each other. Placing frequently used rooms such as these close to each other can cause major problems in the morning as you prepare to go to work or at night as you get ready for bed.
- Create Privacy: You might want your bedroom and nursery to be in an area where guests can’t easily wander into. So you might choose a floor plan that has these rooms upstairs or in a more secluded area.
- Is it Accessible and Safe? If you plan to live in this house for a very long time, you should consider a floor plan where you can accommodate wheelchairs and walkers. In addition, if other family members like babies, children or senior citizens will live in the home, a floor plan that is safe and can accommodate other features such as wider doors will help avoid accidents.
- Expansion: As the family grows and your style changes, choosing a floor plan that will accommodate future additions will be incredibly helpful and less expensive!
